CT State Community College Housatonic is excited to showcase current faculty and staff artists in the annual art exhibition in the Burt Chernow Galleries at the Housatonic Museum of Art.

Sweet Grass: Dancing with My Ancestors

The exhibition features the artwork of Kim Weston, an Afro-Indigenous artist whose long exposure photographs at powwows invites her ancestors’ spirits to reveal themselves in the image.

Bridgeport Art Trail Kick-off with "Arwe Journey: Twentieth-Century Afri-Caribbean Migration"

Start your annual city-wide open studios art celebration off right with free food and music! Experience a night like no other with the reggae steel drum sounds of the Tambu-lay-tay band while feasting on delicious appetizers and drinks. Connect with the current exhibition of artwork by Iyaba Ibo Mandingo and meet the artist himself. Free & open to the public.

Community College Art Museum Leadership Convening & "Art for All" Public Event

The Housatonic Museum of Art under the leadership of Dr. Jennifer Reynolds-Kaye was awarded a $25,000 Convening Grant from the Terra Foundation for American Art for the proposal "Community College Art Museum Leadership Convening: A Gathering to Foster Collaboration and Expand an Understanding of American Art on Two-Year Campuses." Funding will support a first-ever gathering of community college art museum and gallery leaders from across the country and will be proudly hosted at Connecticut State Community College Housatonic in Bridgeport, CT from October 9-10, 2024.
