We Rise: Overcoming Challenges, Manifesting the Future through Art

Opening Reception for We Rise: Overcoming Challenges, Manifesting the Future through Art

On view from Wednesday, June 5 - Friday, September 9, 2024 (extended from previous date)

3rd Floor, Beacon Hall, CT State Housatonic

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the student artists in this exhibition have surmounted many obstacles to envision their future with the help of their family, friends, and mentors. Over the past six months, the student artists met with their mentors, Tyese Williams, Robert Stone, and Alicia Cobb, who helped them give visual form to their stories. Together, they created images related to their identity, community, and aspirations. These student artists demonstrate their resiliency and bravery in sharing their insights with us.

The exhibition is presented in partnership with the Housatonic Museum of Art and the Regional Youth Adult Social Action Partnership (RYASAP).

Exhibition made possible by the generous support of The Eileen Harris Norton Foundation. Special thanks to Milford Photo. Curated by Robert Stone, M.F.A. with support from the Housatonic Museum of Art staff.
