CT State Gateway and Housatonic Museum of Art host Gallery Guides from Yale University Art Gallery

On Friday, January 31, 2025, Dr. Jennifer Reynolds-Kaye, the Director of the Housatonic Museum of Art, led a discussion with over two dozen Yale University undergraduates who serve as Gallery Guides for the Yale University Art Gallery. Her talk, "Academic Art Museums and Galleries at Community Colleges," focused on the important role that community college art spaces play in the educational mission of their parent institution. She provided an overview of her professional background, spoke to how the campus engages with the HMA's impressive collection of 7,000 artworks, and highlighted how academic museums can prepare community college students for pursuits in the creative sector.

The event took place at the NewAlliance Foundation Art Gallery at CT State Community College Gateway, which is run by Tammy Vaz and Noé Jimenez, and was organized by Raymond Carlson, the Manager of Student Engagement at the YUAG.
