Did you know that Bridgeport was once called Little Liberia? Learn about this seafaring community of free people of color established in the 1800s.

You're invited to the opening reception for "Sweet Grass: Dancing with My Ancestors" in the Elizabeth Fray Galleries in Beacon Hall. The exhibition features the artwork of Kim Weston, an Afro-Indigenous artist whose long exposure photographs at powwows invites her ancestors’ spirits to reveal themselves in the image. Featuring Native American Intertribal Drum Group, the Youngblood Singers. Free and open to the public. Event sponsored by the Equity Center at CT State Housatonic and the Housatonic Museum of Art.
